The 1st Annual Black Mountain Greenway Challenge

Course: Both courses make a loop. The race begins and ends at Pisgah Brewing Company. Both 5K/10K racers start together running through the Black Mountain Center's campus into some of Black Mountain's rolling neighborhoods. The 10K will split to continue into town of Black Mountain and make its way to The Oaks trail which is part of the proposed Greenway. From there, it will continue through the Black Mountain Recreation Park and make its way to Pisgah Brewing Company.
The town of Black Mountain adopted a Greenway Master Plan in 2000. When complete it will consist of a continuous greenway connecting Montreat and Ridgecrest to Black Mountain and continue west to Swannanoa. The goal of the Black Mountain Greenway Challenge 5k/10k is to raise awareness and support for the Greenway. All proceeds from the race will be donated to The Black Mountain Greenway Commission.
